Data recovery

Lost data on hard drives and SD cards

Situation

People who had lost information stored on hard drives, SD cards and other media requested a technical assessment.

Work carried out

Data recovery work was performed while avoiding actions that could overwrite or further damage information that might still be recoverable.

Outcome

These assignments recovered many gigabytes of information from the affected devices.

Important: every storage device and failure is different. Recovery prospects can only be assessed after understanding the device and what happened.

OSINT · Digital exposure

Review after a phishing attack

Situation

A person who had suffered a phishing attack asked whether their personal data, photographs or videos were publicly exposed online.

Work carried out

Open sources were reviewed for publicly available material associated with the person, cross-checking the results available at the time of the investigation.

Outcome

No personal content was found publicly exposed within the scope and at the specific time of the review.

Scope: a negative result reduces uncertainty, but does not prove that content is absent from private, closed or not-yet-indexed spaces.
